If we are ever to colonize Mars we will need an amazingly sustainable and resource efficient food source. Will it be plants, mycoprotein, lab grown meat, algae, or grass-fed cattle that feeds the future Martians? Or could insects be the right choice? Let’s take a look at what the future of protein might be, whether on Earth or Mars.
We listened to your feedback and made some changes to our protein bars. Did you think they were a bit too dry? You don’t need to worry about that anymore. We went back to the drawing board and reworked the recipes. You can look forward to a new and improved consistency, mouth feel, and even nutritional profile!
Eating insects probably sounds like a crazy food trend to some people. But the reality is that insects have always been a part of the human diet and even today 2 billion people around the world regularly eat insects. What can we do to make insects normal for the rest of us?
We want to limit the overall animal suffering in the world. Our suggestion is that people replace at least some portion of their protein coming from meat and eggs with protein coming from insects. Conventionally raised big animals are a huge problem and a source of suffering. Insects on the other hand do not suffer at all while being farmed. How is that possible?
I think most people would agree that harming anything that can suffer or feel pain is a negative thing. Unfortunately, our current food and agricultural industries contributes to this bad practice regularly. So what can a person do if she wants to reduce the inhumane treatment of animals while getting all the nutritional benefits that animal foods provide? The answer lies in the insect kingdom.
